Tyre problem - Can I ride on this still?
Hi all,
Had a fall coming off a corner today and then had an explosive flat-tyre later on. I inspected the tyre and saw this:
I'll probably order up a new tyre online, but until it gets here, do you guys think I can put a new tube in this and ride? The tube itself has a long gash of a puncture, I assume because the tyre rolled a bit when I fell.
Or should I avoid riding on this tyre by any means until I can get a new one? Shame though, since I was planning on joining my first group ride this weekend.

Hard to tell exactly what's going on with that tire from the pic but it certainly doesn't look good. I wouldn't use it again.

I wouldn't ride it. The next big gash or puncture could be on you.

I wouldn't trust it. This is why you always have spare tires on hand even if it's a one that may have a few more miles in it.

While you're at it pick up some new wheels. Just a matter of time until those start spraying spokes all over the road....
...just saying...

Looks like a sidewall failure. I wouldn't ride another mile on it. I almost always buy 3 tires at a time whenever they are on sale so I always have at least one new one on hand.
