Team Slipstream...you gonna be a fan?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Team Slipstream...you gonna be a fan?

With all that I have heard and read about them and the plans Vaughters has in store, I am already becoming a huge fan. Even with all of the signings being mostly rumours at this point I am liking what I am seeing. It will be a refreshing breath of fresh air if it all works out as planned and I am looking forward to clean racing again. I hope this has the snowball effect on pro cycling that everyone is anticipating.

Cheers,

Brian

They've already confirmed Vande Velde, Zabriskie and Millar. It's going to be an awesome team.

Yeah, I've always been a Vaughters fan. I used to train with him some when he was 17 and 18. You could tell he was really bright. He always struck me as more of a philosopher than a bike racer -- at least until the grade turned up He's an extremely intelligent fellow.

One funny thing I remember about him is that he used "Disney Movie" as a code word for porn -- in the funniest situations

Now his team is graced with all this talent. Should be awesome. He did a great job with Pat McCarty in the US Open this year.

I'm really stoked to root for an American managed, American team, containing Americans (mostly), riding in the TDF. I want to buy some of those argyle socks!

Would be kinda neat if they could afford Hincapie. Would that be a conflict of interest if Hincapie joined? Doesn't the team wear his clothing line?

Yes, Hincapie sportswear is one of the sponsors. I think there has been talk of Hincapie leaving Disco but I don't know the details. I just heard rumors over in the racing forum.

I think I'll be a fan of slipstream. I like their drug testing program. Another thing I think is great is how they will have a mix of veteran racers as well as soe up and coming guys. Just please do away with the giant burritos as props though...

Hmmm...I love Chipotle Burritos (it's amazing that something so delicious could be 1200 calories wrapped up in one steamy tortilla) and I ride a Felt and I really, really dig those jerseys. . I might get real posueresq and order one of those bad boys.

I would support a team that would have such transparency in their antidoping efforts. I'm tired of the dopers. Go Slipstream.

I read somewhere that Slipstream is only keeping 10 guys from their 07 team. Does anyone know who they are keeping from the current roster?

...already am...

Going back to TIAA/CREF 5280

Vaughters is hilarious. I tried to convince a friend of mine, and the best mechanic I have ever worked with, bar none, case closed...to take a mechanic's job in Europe with these guys.

They are also looking for a soigneur...but you have to be a certified massage therapist.

Those jerseys are proof that if you put somebody cool in an ugly shirt, the shirt looks cool. Zabriskie could make even argyle look good. Or at least acceptable.

I'm on board for Slipstream and Chipotle.
Does one of their burritos really have 1,200 calories?

That's some extra riding then. Damn.

I was mistaken, they're actually releasing 10 out of 22 guys.

From Velonews:

"To make room for the changes, Vaughters is letting 10 riders go from this year's 22-rider squad."
