Anyone ride HWY 20 in Washington?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone ride HWY 20 in Washington?

Just wondering if anyone cycles on HWY 20, Washington state. I'll be up there in the next few weeks and was wondering if anyone would be able to ride with me or give me comments about the trip.

I'll be cycling from Diablo - Newhalem - Marblemount - Rockport - Concrete - Burlington - Mount Vernon. Between Diablo and Newhalem there seems to be huge elevation gains and a couple of hills (way to start a ride huh?)

Thanks for any advise!

i lived in washington before i started riding. That road is narrow, steep and the pavement can be bad. I think it often has no shoulder, if i remember right. It typically has a lot of traffic and a lot of RVs this time of year. But Its a beautiful road.

Lots of RV traffic, it can be kind of intimidating because of road conditions...good luck and be safe
