Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Saturday's Ride Pix

We had a crisp, sunny day here in New England so I decided to take the camera on my solo ride on Saturday. Here's a few shots along the way.

Crossing the North River:

The back stretch downhill on the crit course in Wampatuck State Park:

Windmill in Hull:

Cohasset coast:

Scituate Light:

Little Harbor in Cohasset:

Little Harbor Inlet:

Cohasset Harbor:

An American tug on the North River:

A local curiosity in Marshfield. It's not often you see a shrine to a dead president in someone's front yard:

thanks for the great pics. You are lucky to ride in such beauty, as long as it is not the four terrible winter months , New England is famous for. What part of Mass. is this. I'd guess near Fall River, maybe?

I'm 30 miles south of Boston along the coast. It's one of my favorite rides.

here's a few more shots from the ride:

Cohasset Harbor:

My dirty ride waiting for a flat repair:

Cranberry Bog in Norwell:

The uphill after the big turn on the Wampy crit course. I used to get dropped here by the hammer gods when I used to race:

Another road view along the coast:

A blue Heron swooping over a pond:

And returning home to wild turkeys in the back yard:

They're still running them. Tuesday's the fast night, Wednesday's the slow night.

Those were a blast. We had a group that would go up there and race ratty old Free Spirits and Varsity's. A couple of us had Fuji's (which were THE bike to have in the late 70's early 80's).
