Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Standard Size Seatpost for Roadies?

Is 27.2 the standards size for road bikes? I just bid on a Thomson Elite, but realized that I didn't even bother checking before my bid. I have a 2004 Trek 2300 that it's going on. Does this size sound correct?

There's no "standard" size. Pull the post you have and see what it says on it

I tried looking on your behalf,

unfortunately the diameter of your seatpost is unspecified. Pull it out, measure it.
