Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

centaur/xenon/mirage

Will centaur levers work with the other components being xenon or mirage?

I think so. I bought my 06 Veloce shifters (NOS) with cables for $100 from eBay.

Can the new Centaur shift up more than one gear at a time?

Bike Nashbar has Centaur 10 speed shifters (grey) with cables, both factory fresh in original boxes, for $119 before the 15% discount is applied.

No brainer, I stocked up big time.

Centaur is 10sp. I believe that Xenon and Mirage have both been 9sp up till very recently (or is still currently?). I would be cautious about using Xenon / Mirage rear derailleur with Centaur 10sp Ergo shifters. Campagnolo.com has a very good FAQ section that describes the compatibilities and lack there of between models.

I didn't see where it said cables included or anything. Maybe I missed it? Are you saying it comes with the Campagnolo cables?

Yes.

You didn't miss it because it's not stated.

grey

Levers I received were silver, I asked them what's up?
They said they have no grey, even though they are advertised as grey.
Same with the derailleurs. Buyer beware!

heidenseek
Might have been cheaper if you just bought a upgrade kit?

Here is a cheap front derailleur.

I placed order on Tuesday for 2 each, levers, brakes and rear derailers in gray, rec'd all yesterday. Gray goes back a few years and the supply might be running out.

BikeNashbar part # for gray shifters is YL-CG10

yeah...what a deal those shifters. For weight, price, finish, quality, it's probably the best value that can be had new.

Well the Century Grey Centaur bits are short run (2004-2006), for one thing. And not many people wanted them. Are you complaining?

^^^ You watch, those grey bits are gonna be collectors items before long. They're already getting hard to find.

How about Chorus shifters for $150 after the discount! That's a pretty good deal too.

May be - they must be running out by now. My understanding was that they were for the century year only, but were not moving well, so remained in the catalog for a couple more years after a big run.

In any case, with the right paint job, they look smashing. But the surface is a bit fragile.

Agreed on the look of the finish, sometimes silver and black get a bit boring. Pics of some work in progress, sorry for the poor quality.

Can't argue with the price, I picked up triple cranks for $85 + shipping.

I was going to recommend Ochsner for a set that's missing the print on the left side, but it appears that they are now gone...
Campagnolo Centaur Grey Ergopower Lever Set 04-06 - Left lever is missing "Centaur" print

ERGOPOWER SET 10s 04-6 CEN-GR Price: $134.34 Out of Stock
Try here, a bit more in price; www.ital-tecno.com

Might be time to put some up on e-bay, $$$$$$$$

These are all 2006 close-outs. 2007 Centaur (Veloce, Mirage) all have the new escape mechanism inside and the FR shifter is ONLY compatible with the new QS fr der. So be careful when you are buying the fr der to go with these shifters. They need to be pre 2007, or NOT a QS fr der to shift properly.
