Pick-up bed fork mount

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pick-up bed fork mount

Are the fork mount bike racks good to use in the bed of a pick-up? Any harm to the bike or forks? If you use this how did you mount yours? I have read where they mount them to a 2X4 or to the tool box. If you have a pic of yours I would love to see how and where you mounted it. Looking for ideas.https://www.bikerackshops.com/SG64700.html
Thanks

this works too and clamps onto your bed rails. No they won't do damage to your bike or fork. its just like having a wheel mounted in the fork

i use those in my silverado and my friend uses em in his ranger so they work great in both trucks...long rides i will strap my rear wheel down lightly just enough to prevent bouncing.

mount 'em on a piece of 5 ply or marine ply that's cut to the shape of your load area and then it won't slide sideways, and protects your tray floor. also, why mount just one when you can have two or three there (or at least leave space for more later). if it's in the truck all the time, a coat of varnish top and bottom is a good idea.

If you are looking to mount many bikes, turn the skewers on an angle so you don't get stuffed by putting a bunch of squared handlebars next to each other.

We've used them a few times now - they work the treat. I'd go with the locking ones as well.

My bedliner has a slot on each side where a 2x6 fits. I have 3 fork mounts screwed on there and use it 3-4 times a week. Works great.

Here's an idea

I use this in my Taco's bed. Works well and keeps the bikes low and out of the wind and dirt. Basically, it's a 2x4 that I mounted a couple of Yakima mounts on...hit it with a little black Krylon...tag it with a sticker and it looks low budget pro.

Just sold the pictured truck, but they worked fine for me. I have to admit to being lazy and laying down the 1 or 2 bikes in the bed.

This is my Tacoma that has a cleat track system, as menay newer trucks have (at least the mod-sized trucks do).

These people have some good solutions, with locking skewers..

https://rockymounts.com/

A block head from Yakima or performance is only about $5.00, which you can mount to a piece of wood, as others have mentioned.
