Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Advice on this road bike?

I found an 06 Specialized Allez Tripple on my local craigslist, but I must admit I'm not that up on the component groupings there using on road bikes these days.

Factory specs are listed at https://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCBkM...006&spid=21577

Is that considered a decent component groupin, and for a second hand version of this bike that sounds like it's been ridden a few times and stored does $500 seem average, cheap or too expensive?

I would think this time of year you could get a 07, if you can find one in your size, through a LBS for pretty close to that price point. I know the 08 Allez are already coming out so it may be hit or miss what is still out there. Unless it is in GREAT condition I wouldn't pay $500 for it. As far as the components the Sora is Shimano's entry level group, decent but nothing great. It is more than enough to get started on though...

Thanks for the input. The bike was pretty clean but I decided to keep looking.
