All the time. For protection, and for wiping away sweat from the brow. The gloves I use are half finger, and have a very convinient terry backing.

always. for wiping sweat and wiping tires ( +1 RiPHRaPH). For the most part
I like gloves with little to no padding,PI white lines, or low end Specialized.
I typically ride in 90+ degree heat all summer and it doesn't seem to bother me.

Same here.
When I helped a friend get into cycling, she wondered why she had to wear the whole spandex getup. My reply was that if you wear anything at all, protect your head, your eyes and your hands because if you permanently injure any of those, you'll have a tougher time making a living.
Rockstars from the 80's wore fingerless gloves and that's good enough for me.

I wear them on every ride, largely as others have said, to wipe my nose and sweat. But then it's a MUST to have multiple pairs of gloves, so that if you ride two days in a row, you're not forced to put on a WET pair of gloves. Euuuuu.

if you wear gloves all the time and forget them on a ride you'll realize the #1 reason to wear them. When you go through gravel or glass or schmutz, you need to place your palm on your tire, front and rear while cruising to displace any gravel or glass, etc.... this is an overlooked convenience. And it must be done.

I ride with gloves with no negative feelings.
In fact, I'm glad I do as I had a bad crash 3 weeks ago and ripped the crap out of the gloves and not my hands.

No thanks. It gets rather difficult for me to make a living coding if I can not type on my keyboard. Besides I would feel like a dumb***** for causing myself so much pain that a $10 pair of gloves would have prevented. Though I suppose my doctor would appreciate my business.

My group ride strongly asks all participants to wear gloves. They do this because of the rider safety and the safety of the group. The claim is that without gloves, you can lose feeling in your hands and not be able to grip well enough to ride a safe paceline. It is the same for aerobars. So yes, I wear gloves.

Anytime the possibility of a crash is elevated. Races, fast training rides with guys I don't know... I like the Pearl Izumi Carbon Pitards.
Solo training I'll often go bare-handed... yeah, baby, I like it raw.

Gloves are for gardening... shoot, I messed that up. I'm supposed to say that when I'm at the gym pumping the heavy iron and some weakling asks me why I'm not wearing gloves.
[makes entry in "witty comeback" notebook]
Okay, there, won't happen again.
But yeah, I wear gloves when I cycle, otherwise my hands won't match my bike...

I wear gloves because the second day I started riding again, my front wheel slipped out from under me and my hand caught the brunt of the fall. I ripped open a hole in my hand and two months later it still isn't completely healed. A little leather in the way may have helped.

Always. Full finger too. Old habit from riding mtn bikes.
It's just better all round. More grip, especially on wet rides, my bg gloves keep hand numbness away, terry cloth to wipe sweat and boogers, and if you go down atleast your hands wont have road rash.

For short distances (< three miles) it really doesn't matter. For anything longer I always wear gloves, since I value all the things that my hands do for me.

I wear gloves almost all the time, but enjoy riding without them as well. For my 1-2 hour typical rides, I do't have any problems w/o gloves.
Coupla observations:
I've noticed recently that my old school thin padded gloves (crocheted backs) are more comfortable with my new gel padded gloves. The gel ones happen to kind of bunch up in the wrong way and put pressure on certain parts of my palms.
Also - why doesn't anyone invent a glove back material that allows tanning rays through? I'm tired of white hands!

I used to wear gloves only while on my roadie, on rides of longer than 30 miles or so (past the one water bottle mark). I started wearing them religiously when I noticed that my co-worker has hands that look 20 years older than the rest of his body. UV takes a toll.
