If it's appreciated that much in the last 15 years, I could probably expect it to be worth approx $400-$500 about 15 years from now, right? I'm thinking this might be a solid investment opportunity.

I personally am extremely impressed by the low-friction routing method of the rear brake cable. This may catch on with the big-name manufacturers soon. There must be some way for me to retrofit this type of setup on my Tarmac. There MUST be some way. Ideas are welcome. Also, can I retrofit the 1-piece crankset on my Tarmac as well? It'll alleviate lots of worry about BB spindle breakage that keeps me so tense on hard rides.

If that's an original factory fitted dork disk then you could get your money back breaking it for parts, but a classic like that deserves to remain in one piece.

Haha, I was just thinking, what if some poor noobie to the cycling world is looking into buying a bike, reads this and goes and offers someone $200 for their Huffy thinking hes getting an amazing deal? These threads should come with disclaimers.
Or not, this too fun.

OMG OMG OMG... I so had that bike!
Caught my uncle putting it together one x-mas morning... from the original Toys R Us on Route 4 in Paramus IIRC. Yes, I had it AND rode the hell out of it until some mean kid the next town over stole the damn thing, it rusted out from being parked outside, or I convinced my dad the Huffy just wasn't cool and I had to have the Miyata. See the abuse heaped upon it... I don't even remember wtf happened to it in the end.
I do remember living through some Lemond TDF and American Flyer fantasies en route from Teaneck to Jersey City via the ?440? and some back roads.
Didn't have another road bike until 2006.... from then on it was a Hybrid Miyata, hybrid Panasonic (stolen by another mean kid resprayed it and applied Fuji Stickers)... then the long drought
By the time the last bike was stolen I was 17 and could snag the keys to the 87 LeBaron and occasionally the 85 bimmer... two wheels just didn't matter much as I really wanted a Cherry 87 Pathfinder or a Forest Green Jetta with a Tan Interior.
Its worth at least $200!
OK maybe $5, but the memories are priceless.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane

From the seller:
I just took the bikes out of storage last night when I took the pictures. I have not had time to pump up the tires I am going to tonight after work. That cable is the rear brake cable. the bike is in great shape just needs a tune up like oiling the chain and minor things like that. let me know if you want to take a look at the bike.
Thank you,
