Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Which wheels?

I'm looking for new wheels in the $600 to $850 range. For general training and cat 5/collegiate racing, looking for combination of bombproof and light within that price range, so DT Swiss Competition spokes, not revolution, and brass nipples, not alloy. Right now I'm leaning toward the DA handbuilts, but input would be appreciated.

Vote above, other suggestions below.

I don't see a poll. If I was spending $850 on wheels today, I'd get a PowerTap off ebay.

Took me a few minutes to write it up. It's there now.

I like the Dura-Ace. If you take care of them, your grandkids can ride those hubs.

Personally, I have raced on ksyrium elites & I hate them; I will not buy another set agian. Everyone else loves them but I have never had so many problems with a rear wheel. It has been trued 15+ times in less then a year and they are my race only wheels so they dont see too much action. Everyone else loves them though so if you did go mavic, i would say go the SL3s.

Maybe you should also look into the Campy Zonda and Fulcrum Racing 3s wheels
