Bibs vs. Shorts??/
I was just wondering what the difference in comfort/ wear was between bibs and shorts. Are bibs more comfortable? Do shorts has a tenancy to ride down lower and lower on you arse? just tell me what you wear and why you wear it.

Bibs don't constrict around the waist, which, though it doesn't sound like it, makes a huge difference.

Do a search there is tons of posts on this. The usual consensus is that bibs are better/more comfy. I have recently bought both and to me, I can't tell much difference. Both fit well.

bibs...shorts are fine, but i love my bibs. i dig the less restrictive nature around the midsection. The only downside I've seen to bibs is that they're much less restroom break-friendly.

I got my first pair of bibs last month and I'm hooked. I had just bought 2 pair of good shorts too so I won't be buying more for a long while. But shorts are fine if that's what you have.

Generally you will find two types of opinions here when it comes to bibs vs. shorts. Usually the bib wearers will tell you that bibs are the way to go (there is always one or two exceptions), that they are more comfortable, they don't bunch up around your waist, there is no drawstring, etc. Then there is the group that have never tried bibs that will either tell you that they have no problem with shorts, that you just didn't find the right pair, or that they don't see what all the fuss is about.
I have tried both, I prefer bibs. either way it is up to you to decide. Of course the easiest way is to buy a pair of each, preferably in the same model, so that you can compare for yourself.

You know...I never had any issues with regular shorts until I bought a pair of bibs, now I will never go back to regular shorts if I can help it. Bibs are just way more comfortable IMHO.
Cheers,
Brian

I'll find out tomorrow... I just bought my first pair of bibs from a PI sales rep getting rid of his sample inventory. So I got a brand new w/ tags microsensor 3D bib-shorts for $60. I wish he had more than one though.

I have/use both. Bibs fit more comfortably than shorts do. Shorts feel a little cooler on the hot days than bibs do. YMMV.

Here's my $.02. I've worn shorts for more than two years--ever since I started cycling "seriously." Did three centuries in them, comfortably. They stay up just fine, and don't expose my back. Never minded, and still don't mind, the waist elastic. My concern about bibs was twofold: they cost a bloody fortune, and I gathered peeing was complicated while wearing them.
But after reading the raves about bibs I decided to go looking. After trying out three bibs that I didn't like, either 'cause they fit badly, or because the chamois wasn't good, I finally got some Volers. They fit great, the chamois is fine. Peeing is no big deal: pull the front of the bib down, and the urine delivery mechanism up and over, and let fly. What a relief.
The thing about bibs that I like, in this beginning experience of them, isn't mentioned often: the shoulder straps exert a slight upward pull, which keeps the chamois tucked up in place vis a vis your stuff, and thus prevents abrasion, etc. Don't know if this is an issue for women in a different way, but for guys, it matters a lot.
So I'll keep my Voler bibs, and use them often, especially for longer rides. But I like my shorts, too.

I ride both and barely even notice. Considering that I'm not a comfort rider, I don't give a poo-poo.
Though my girl does notice the red constriction mark on my abdomen (read: mini-gut).

I'm in the 10 percent. I only wear my bibs for shorter rides when it's not too hot. I don't like the feel of straps on my shoulders. It's harder to take a leak with bibs too.
