Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Scott CR-1 vs. Cannondale System Six: one rider's opinion

Spoke to a racer I know and respect, he went from a Scott CR-1 to a Cannondale System Six. Says the System Six absolutely pisses on the CR-1 in every way despite the slightly heavier weight (I think a Sys. Six is like 150-180 grams heavier). Better ride, climber, sprinter, everything.

That opinion doesn't exactly surprise me, really. I know quite a few people who have ridden CR-1s and have either loved them or didn't agree with the compliance it provided.

Does this mean you are ruling out the Addict?

It does give me pause. All I know is that EVERYBODY that has a System Six, Six13 or Super Six (one rider so far that I've talked to) just is IN LOVE with their bikes, including me. Cannondale is doing something right. I will probably wait another year or two to see what comes up for the 2009 or 2010 model years. I'd hate to buy a new road bike only to learn Dura Ace re-vamped all their components. Very happy with the Six13, I think I'll keep it at least another season.
