Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

odd sized seatpost

I'm looking for seatpost suggestions in a size 28.

I've found a few manufacturers, but none have a 28 and the ability to give a decent amount of setback (more than Thomson's 16mm). I need something in the 30mm and up range, setback-wise. I don't care about the material.

As a "for instance" solution, I like the Look Ergopost, but would need a 25 or 27.2mm seatpost, and then to shim the thing to work with the 28 - except that there are is no shim that converts either to a 28 - from what I've found.

I read recently about a shop that makes custom seatposts. Of course, now that I may need one, I can't seem to find the link.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Get a shim from CC.

Plastic, lightweight, cheap, work great.
I use one to fit a non-setback 27.2 Thomson Elite on my Pinarello F4:13, which has an obscure 31.0 diameter.

That's EXACTLY what I was looking for! Woohoo! THANKS! Geez, I searched a couple sites, and each one had those metal shims, but none added up to the 28.0 size.

Yeah Cocoa... a bit worse than a 26.8, but I'm glad to know that others feel my pain. I'm sure that there is a great reason for the different sized seatposts, but what a hassle.

Thanks again for the help. Problem solved!
