Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's my favorite book of all time. Not like I've actually read a lot of books, but still.

The path to enlightenment does not travel through George Lucas' films. If you haven't seen the film version of Sidharthha, check out. Great film, made back in 1973.

Joseph Campbell had some interesting thoughts on Star Wars. It's basically a blend of Christian passion/drama, Western myth and Eastern mojo.

I use the light side of the Force all the time to ward off cars who come to close and it works!!

Except one time last year when, as hard as I tried, I couldn't will him away and he hit me, crashing me and my X-wing into the asphalt. The Force was strong with that one.

Typing as a cyclist, I think crazy. maniac drivers are just about as evil as Darth Vader. The only person more evil is the devil and we all know he's not real.

What is up with the Star Wars resurgence lately? There are new vinyl miniatures, $600 storm trooper helmets, this post, etc.

Is there a movie coming out?

I dunno. My 5-year-old started watching some of the movies a couple months ago, and he's totally hooked now. Star Wars is 1/2 of what he talks about. We were playing with the Legos I handed down to him (making a btch'n custom Imperial Shuttle, BTW, with geared wings that lower when you pull up on the tail), and he said, "I am a Lego-man, like my father before me." I about fell over laughing.

Thought the resurgence was due to the Family Guy season premiere episode.

Mr. Campbell, God rest his soul (and he'd have some comments on that remark), was pandering to popular culture for his PBS Power of Myth TV series 19 years ago. He was, after all, a college professor, and he was no dummy. I'm sure that got him a couple of stoned 20-something and college student viewers. Star Wars is tripe. Calling it 'Christian passion/drama, Western myth and Eastern mojo' is like putting a tux on Osama Bin Laden. A crapburger is still crappy even if you add A-1 Sauce.

Messa disagree, the path to the most annoying film character ever conceived comes from the mind of Lucas.

It all went downhill after THX1138.
