Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Used to ride a 560, and loved it.

I'm 4 years younger. But anyways, Nice bike, you should, however, add a rear brake.

I graduated from college when that bike came out.....gee do I feel old now. I think I'll hobble over to the 50+ forum now.....I almost qualify... seriously, you'll like the trek. A bit heavy by todays standards, but will still roll down the road nicely....

Thanks for the comments.

I removed the rear brake because it would drag. Everytime I would adjust it, it would be good for one or two rides and then would drag. Plus, I hardly ever used it anyway. So I ditched it.

A thorough cleaning and lubing would get that rear brake working again. If I lived anywhere moderately hilly I wouldn't want to roll with only a single point of failure away from flying into a ditch or head on into a car at 35mph. Otherwise, very nice trek. Do you like the saddle tilted down that far? I have a similar Flite saddle which I keep absolutely level for max comfort.

I foolishly let a mid/late 80's Elance 330 go on Craigslist on '06 for $125 when I was getting back into cycling after approx 10 yrs of laziness and gluttony. I still feel stupid about that one. No wonder I was swamped by emails. That should've been my first clue...
