Negative Drag claim by ZIPP, is it TRUE?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah. But one problem is that, unless you install an emergency brake on your bike and use it when you lean it against a pole, the bike takes off on its own. 11 watts isn't much but, in the time it takes to grab a cup of coffee, your beloved wheels will be out in traffic and halfway across town!

And, of course, if you've got a tailwind, the negative drag actually sucks you backwards, leading to control problems.

So if I bought these wheels and hung my bike up on a rack, the wheels would spin all night? As expensive as they are they ought to.

Absolutely. Not only is it true, it's true in every condition imagineable. Even underwater.

Yes, it's possible. It is probably true under the very controlled conditions of the test.

In the real world, on a real bike, who knows?

As you can see the dimples create negative drag. It happened to be a coincidence that the dipples actually spelled out "zipp" for the best aerodynamics possible.

Dont they have a mufflers that have negative back pressure? maybe the same concept?

but doenst the first law of thermodynamics state that energy is neither created or destroyed in a normal reaction?

I made this point many times, Zipp sure got lucky it didn't optimize in the windtunnel to "HED".

Spend more money, go more faster. Don't think.

Funny how the people trained in the field with years of experience who think about it tend to come down on Zipp's side while those with little or no education or experience are the biggest doubters. Thinking won't get you far without the tools.

Or, a sucker is born every minute.

Show me any data from Zipp and I'll explain to you why it would not make even the worst peer-reviewed engineering journal.

So a woman comes home and finds her husband in bed with his secretary.

She's irate and wants to know what he's doing cheating on her.

He says he's never cheated on her.

When she says she sees him in bed with his secretary right in front of her, he responds who are you going to believe me or your lying eyes.

The data's been available for years, the only way not to see what's in front of you is not to believe your own lying eyes.
