Most unusual food you pulled out of your jersey pocket during a group ride

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A tuna and onion sandwich and a can of warm Pepsi on one of the hottest days I've ever ridden (I used to be good in the heat). This was 5 mins before we got to a 5 mile climb. The riders who saw this couldn't believe it. I've always had an iron-clad stomach. One of those riders turned green, threw up and stopped about half way up the climb just ahead of me. As I passed I just said "more tuna".

I have been thinking that Peanut brittle might be just the thing for a ride. peanuts for protein and sugar(brittle) for a quick boost.

Had a friend pull out a half roast beef sandwich. Offered it up to the group...no takers so it ended up in the garbage.

Panforte.. it's not that unusual in Italy, but over here it's rare. My wife makes batches of it up each year and it's perfect for rides. Panforte is a traditional Italian dessert containing fruits and nuts, and resembling fruitcake. We picked it up in Tuscany from a local rider.

A can of pork and beans. Seriously. My body craves them when I'm worn out.
