PowerTap Wheel question
Does anyone have any experience with PowerTap factory wheels from one of the manufacturers (Zipp, Bontrager, American Classic, etc.). Looking at getting a 2.4 (wireless PowerTap) and wondering if it is worth spending the extra money for one of these sets versus the standard PT hublaced to a Mavic open pro rim.

Why would you limit yourself to an Open Pro? Mine is built on an IRD Cadence Aero (Niobium30) hoop with Sapim CX-Ray spokes. It's stiffer and weighs less than the standard PT build on an Open Pro...and it's more aero and rolls better.

I'd get a 24H hub PowerTap and some deep clincher rim for my first PT. The second would be a tubular version of the same. Or, if you have lots of wheels, I'd skip the PT and go to a crank power measurer (SRM or that new thing that's coming out Q something).
I have a 32H PT (initially DT 1.1, I relaced it with a Reflex tubular for racing). I find the 32H part of it next to useless (the power bit I love). I'd rather have a 24H deep rim for training (or a TriSpoke/HED3) front and rear. I bought the 32H thinking I could lace on a 24H Zipp rim but you can't do a 2:1 right:left spoke pattern on a PT so my plans got shot down.
I'm going to sell my PT (and its Reflex and its DT 1.1) and buy an SRM. Beats selling my PT, buying two more PTs (24H), buying some rims, and building a lot of really expensive wheels when I already have a lot of expensive wheels. Once you hit 2-3 PT hub wheels, you're approaching SRM territory. If you have to buy rims to lace on them, you'll break the SRM barrier. I'm at that point - I regularly use TriSpokes, Reynolds (20 spoke), Eurus (21 spoke and 2:1 to boot), and have a few wheels I want to regularly use - and they're all not PT compatible.
buy 24H PT (or buy my 32H lol)

I have a PT on an Open Pro (32H) and a PT on a Velocity Aerohead OC (28H), Sapim CX-ray spokes.
Next year I'll probably pull the Open Pro apart and have it laced to a Zipp 460 clincher rim (same as the 404), since that rim allows 32H.
