Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I would go with the ProBikeKit 2007 instead. For the additional $140 you get a chain + UltraTorque as opposed to square taper.

Also, PBK has free shipping, I didn't see if total cycling had free shipping or not.

You do get a chain with it. And you will not notice a difference between square taper and Ultra torque. At least I don't on my bikes.

It's a good deal if you want 170 cranks, otherwise it's not since that's the only size they're offering.

I went looking at Total the other day because I'm hoping to pick up a couple of square taper cranks to replace the alloy versions on two of my bikes. Total had the best price but 170s only.

You can get a choice of crank sizes here, but it's a mixture of 2006 and 2007 components. Same price. Ultra Torque BB.

With the same price, that's an interesting alternative. Given that, why would anyone elect to buy the kit with the older style crank?

Yea, square taper carbon.

Which is fine, but given the direction Campy is heading it's not a standard I would choose to buy into now unless it was a replacement on a bike with an already installed square taper BB. The Ultratorque version is far easier to install, is lighter and is easier to maintain. And this is coming from someone who thinks square taper was plenty good enough.
