Since when did Taiwan become high end...
I have had many low end bikes in my child hood and late teen years come from Taiwan. Now all I hear on this forum is that the carbon fiber this or that is the cats meow? I'm missing something here? Taiwan makes crap. They are bottom barrel slave driver products. I buy clothing and shoes second hand because I know outsourced consumer products are made with shoddy labor practices...
Where do some of you guys get off calling something a nice bike when you know damn well it is made from slave labor...Oh and FYI my bicycle was made with union labor..

I often wonder why people like to bash Taiwan and China so much, about the quality of product coming from those countries.

Its called bias and bigotry. I've met people who will not purchase a product because it came from X country. Yet they have never tried the product to form an intelligent opinion. Ignorance is for the ignorant.

Just curious, where was the computer made that you used to make that post?
Back on topic...
Having owned bikes made in the USA, Japan, Italy, and Taiwan, I have to say that the only problem I had was with one of my USA made frames. If the frame is well made I would tend to ignore the political and economic part of the bike buying equation and purchase what I felt was best for me.

I've worked and setup factories in China for several years now. I think the Western worlds don't understand the culture and societies of third world countries and are quick to label them.
Before you start denouncing companies and their labor practices, learn the facts. Not what you read on the internet or watch on the CNN. You can't believe everything you hear on TV. These are still a western bias view. You have to understand it from their viewpoint, NOT Western standards.

There are many Christians jailed in China for their faith. No one seems to care.

You have a short memory. Things busted at the end of Clinton's term. They have slowely gotten better ever since despite the real estate bubble and high gas prices.

And the US is no fluffy bunny of human rights.
But how many times have we had these pointless discussions about asian-made bicycles? And has anything ever been accomplished? No.
Nothing to see here. Move along. Move along now. On you go...
