What they need to make are pocket sized little contraptions that kill the engines of cars, and we could pull em out of our back pockets and throw them at cars that are being stupid. Stick, and POOF the car dies. Eat that you punk motherfarkers!

Anyhow, I hate hooligans. They are fricken clueless, won't listen to reason, and they won't get it until they turn 25 or so. So all you can do is ignore them, or slap 'em when you can't. They are probably not bad kids. They had no intention of hurting you. "We were just having fun" would be their explanation if cops ever caught up with them. They have no clue that they could have killed you.
Anyhow, something similar happened to a friend of mine. Her husband is also a cyclist. He was with her.
He's a cop.

as far as riding goes... sunday i rode the same road at about 8am and not a car in sight... i ended up doing a little more than 56 miles and over 3k ft ascent. i'm not gonna let this deter my riding.. i've had nothing but good experiences on that and every other road... i guess i just happened to be the target of opportunity... but i'm still wondering why the kid had a tree branch in the cab of his truck...
i've thought of all the stuff i could do to get back at them.. but then i'd likely be the one getting busted.. i mean the cops already have all my info.. if anything happens to the kids.. i'm sure the cops would come right after me..
as far as the update goes... no call from the sheriff today.. i was really hoping to get a call.. i'll wait til wednesday and see if i hear anything. then i'll call and see what the progress is.
yes i realize that they could be prosecuted and i realize that nothing could happen either... i'm just going to wait and see what happens...

Truth is the human brain isn't fully developed until the age of 25 and some of the last bits to develop are reason and the ability to understand consequences. That said bad/felonious behavior should not be tolerated.

It has now been a month since you started this thread. Over 5,000 people were concerned enough about the subject that they read it, and over 100 times people responded to it with words of support and encouragement. As brother cyclists, we are all concerned about how such things play out, both for you and for ourselves, because we all know that it could happen to any of us and we need to know whether or not justice was served, and if it was not, the reason (s) why it wasn't.
Well, how about it? I think you owe us an update on this. People need closure too.

yeah that's right.. i'm riding on the white line and 3 punk kids passing in an old white ford ranger throw about a 3/4 in stick at me.. hit me in my back.. the stick breaks and comes around and smacks me in the jaw... honestly it didn't hurt too bad... but it scared the hell out of me... no crash due to awesome bike handling skills... so i recover after a few minutes and continue on.... about 3 miles up the road here they come from the other direction.. the guy proceeds to swerve over into my lane and just about hit me... his mistake was that there were 2 cars about 100 yrds behind me.... one of them pulled over and asked me if i was ok.. i said yes and he went after them.... too bad he couldn't catch them.. but he did call the cops and they put out an apb... i ended up filing a complete report... i think the kids will be caught because they were wearing their school colors.. (Friday is team spirit day for football games blah blah....and only one high school with orange in this town Vacaville, California... if anyone lives around vacaville look out for punk kids on pleasants valley road just north of vaca valley road..) anyway i went to the ER and had them check me out... just some cuts to my back and a scrape to my neck/jaw area.
I ride all over Vacaville/Fairfield/Gordon Valley, and frequently alone. As much as I try to be vigilant and alert to jackassery, there are times when I'm hammering hard or enjoying my ride so much that a stunt like that could unseat me. (I had 2 major crashes on the tandem this year and want very much to avoid a repeat on my half-bike.)
