Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sizing up on a frame?

I found a frame that I like very much, but it's "1cm" larger than what I usually ride! I feel very comfortable on a Fuji Roubaix Pro 54cm, 100mm stem with 46cm handlebars, no setback seatpost. The bike frame I'm interested in is a 55cm, with a longer top tube. The standover still works for me. Can I still use this slightly larger frame but with a shorter stem, or am I asking for regret?

Thanks!

46cm handlebars? Holy Hulk Hogan. Personally I prefer 12cm stems so I base top tubes around that. I would look at all the geometry numbers and decide for yourself.

1 cm difference isn't really a difference at all. I've got a 54 with a 10 cm stem, a 53 with a 11.5 cm stem, a 55 with a 9cm stem. They all have nearly identical reaches from saddle to bar.

You're in the same ball park and you can make the fine adjustments with stem length and seat setback.

thanks for the replies! I don't know.. 46cm handlebars are comfortable for me! I'll have to double check the numbers I guess. This frame I'm interested in is titanium so I hope that it will fit like a glove!
