I gained 8lbs of upper body muscle, am I still a roadie?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

you need to lose the upper body muscle and gain

lower body "muscle"

imagine what 8lbs could do down there.

That's not a one-pack. That's a keg.

+1. I've gained quite a few pounds on my mid-body over the years (which is sad because I'm only 24). Can I still be a roadie?

If you search google with that filename, you'll find that picture is always regarded as a photoshop...

As you are good at muscle building consider track cycling. Kilo sprints for one.

Yeah. I doubt anyone would try to pass that as anything other than a photoshop creation. It's kind of like that ugly girl pic. I don't know why anyone would spend that much time in photoshop creating something so ugly.

Back to the OP:

If you're strong enough to open up a new jar of jam/mayonaisse/pasta sauce/etc. without having to ask your wife or girlfriend for help, you are no longer a roadie.

Ovoleg came with us today on a short climbing ride and he actually did pretty well. Not the fastest climber there, but well in front of my group. Of course, I'm old and fat.

Yes, he is a very strong rider... when he actually sticks around for the whole ride.

Quite the gentleman too, I might add, having called my cell out of concern when I had dropped off pace and took a wrong turn.
