Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Where can I buy removable track ends?

Hey everyone,

Do you know where I can buy those removable track dropouts that come attached to carbon fibre frames?

Thanks

You know the dropouts are alloy, and they are fixed to the frame with hex bolts.

You are confused!......unless you're talking about carbon track frames with replaceable trackends. Come to think, I don't think those exist either...

I think you're referring to the rear derailer dropout, and those are frame specific. A local bike shoup should be able to get what you are after. If you mean the one on the non drive side, even if there is a single bolt (such as on a Lemond carbon rear end) the other side is still permanently bonded into the frame. If you want dropouts for a seperate project go to https://www.novacycles.com/.

I thought the Felt TT bike had track ends so you could scoot the back wheel right up to the seat post.

I think they do exist, aren't these replaceable? Not like you'd want to 'replace' them ..

I think it's manufacturer-specific, i was just wondering if there was a retail store where I could buy them as a pair, and then maybe cut them to size ...

I think Corima used to do that. An ENO hub wheel is probably the best solution if the OP wants to go ss/fixed.

It's just a carbon frame with vertical dropouts, but these dropouts are attached with hex-key bolts, so I was hoping to buy some alloy/ti track ends ..?

FWIW, Gene at Spicer Cycles (where you found the pic) could probably help you track those down. If not, he could probably fab some for you.

Well, pretty sure everyone here knows that you can't put horizontal track ends in a frame without removable dropouts, let alone a road frame with near vertical, non-removable dropouts. Unless you feel like destroying your road frame, that is.

Which is why everyone wondered what the hell he meant, as such a product does not exist.

He didn't say the frame didn't have removable dropouts nor did he say that it was a road frame with vertical, non-removable dropouts.

I assumed that he either had a) a track frame with removable track ends (my track frame has removable ends) or b) he had a road bike that had removable dropouts so you can put track ends in there (my friend has a road bike like this).

Most other people seemed to have no idea what the hell he meant, probably because they had never seen either of the above.
