For those with a handlebar mounted GPS *and* cyclocomputer
Why?!?
I've noticed a few pics of BF'ers handlebars showing they have the Garmin GPS mounted as well as a regular computer.
Any reason? Maybe the regular computer has cadence and they don't have the cadence for the Garmin? Maybe it's an HRM and they don't have the HRM piece for the Garmin?
Any other reason?
(just bought a Garmin and planned on taking off the Sigma and using only the Garmin as my only computer/hrm/cadence).

I did to check the Garmin's mileage calculation again my old computer to see if it sync or if there was a difference. Did not seem to be so I sold the old one and now just have the Garmin.

I used to be just garmin until I got the powertap. Now I use both since I can't ditch the altitude tracking.

I did it initially because on long rides (200k) you could not rely on garmin for battery life. Since I like to see hr, cad, trip, ascent, trip and speed at times on the garmin, that makes the speed font rather small its easier to see the current speed on the Incite at high speed at a glance.
Finally, given the current time of year, I ride 5 + hours a week in the dark and the larger font on the incite is easer to see passing under street lights etc without having to press a button to activate the light. It always feels like I am going faster in the dark than I actually am.
Btw on a 100km trip the garmin and incite are usually never further than 100m apart for distance.

Some people might not want to buy the cadence/speed unit for the garmin if they already have a computer that has cadence. You can also use your old computer for indoor training if you don't want to get the cadence/speed sensor.
Another big reason could be to keep track of total miles (odometer) because the training center doesn't really have a way to show it, especially if you ever run with your garmin like I do.
Oh yeah, +1 on the battery life issue.

As others have said, the Garmin has pretty limited battery life. I also tend to leave speed and something else on my Cateye computer and have the Garmin do heart rate, cadence, altitude, etc.
Another thing the Garmin does not really do but which is done by every other computer on the planet is a cumulative odometer.
Most importantly, you also need to remember to press the damn button on the Garmin to record which you don't on most other computers, so the Cateye has a backup for the inevitable missed bits.
