Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Kids in Distress Benefit Ride in FLL

12/2/07, a great hot Sunday ride for one of the best charities I know of especially because our Son, now 3-1/2 was adopted via the Grace of God and Kids in Distess Foster Program when he was only 9-weeks old!! Ride options 100, 62 and 30. I've been road riding since August and set my sights on a personal goal of 50-miles. I managed 45.3 and at the time I turned to head back, I knew I hit my limit. By 30-miles fatigue reared its head and by 35 I limped in stopping a few times due to huge cramps up and down both legs. All BF advise was taken, I was super hydrated the night before and drank and ate throughout the ride and hit a couple rest stops too. I guess in BF terms, I bonked but at least I completed my goal. It was a fantastic feeling starting in such a pack of riders, 900+. I got the bug to do this over and over again. Next time I'll take more advantage of the complementary banana's!@#@$$#@.

PS: Pipinfan, you shot past me heading south at Sunrise Blvd. I was the guy on the sidewalk massaging the golf balls out of my legs....

Sorry Boss did not see you !! but I'm glad to know you did a great effort to do the ride, was great for sure,I went on with the wrong group of riders,I wanted to start with the first group but we were taking pictures for a mini "newspaper" we have at work and by the time I was ready they were gone,so I rode with the second group, but I was cranking hard my bike with the "illusion" of catching those *******s but I was impossible they were doing high 20's mph and I was doing 23-24 solo ....

Any ways, on my way back I helped a couple of very nice female riders to get to the finish line ,I can't complain too much.
