Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

'97 Trek 5200 - $750 Your thoughts?

Hello, I'm looking at a '97 58cm (actually 56cm now) trek 5200 for $750. It has been upgraded with dura-ace in the last few years and looks pretty awesome. I was wondering if anyone had an experience with this bike, soo anyone?

Thanks all!!!

Christian

I have a '96 Trek 5500 that I bought last year fully DA-equipped for over twice that price. The OCLV frame was NOS and the components new to lightly used. Depends on the condition of the frame and the age of the Dura Ace components. Definitely worth a look.

Worth a look, definitely. (So says the guy with the DA-upgraded '00 5200)

How much would it weight, and if it was in a minor crash is there need for concern?

That's a 10 year old frame we are talking about.
I don't think I would be interested.

+1. It might be a good deal, but 10 years is a long time. I'd hold out, and you'll find a better deal for sure. Good luck.
