Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2 deals in 2 days? Or just a sucker?

Well yesterday I was at my lbs and saw a clearance rack, so as I'm browsing I come across a brand new dura-ace crankset and bb for $129.00 together. Today I'm on ebay and see this Auction for a set of used Mavik Ksyrium Elites with under 1k miles.

I won the auction for $269. After winning I began to get worried. Seems like if the deal was that good more ppl would have been bidding. Maybe they knew something I didn't. So either I found 2 really good deals, or i got suckered in on the auction. We will see.

I picked up a hardly used set of Elites off Ebay for $240 earlier this year. And a set of SL's for $360. I think because there are a lot of these that come up on the 'bay, some of the less than stellar-ly written listings will slip through the collective consciousness.

Enjoy...they are great wheels and even better at that price.

Good job on the DA crank. One of the best cranks, but you just can't give them away these days. I sold a new in box one for less than cost this year. Boo.

I think because its the 'off-season" and 1/2 the country is covered in Ice and snow there is not as much activity on eBay for bike parts so you got a good deal on both!

A friend picked up a Zipp 3001 for £350 last week because the listing looked ultra-sketchy (mobile phone photo, very little info). Turns out it was a guy who had to leave the UK, so asked his LBS to sell off his spare bikes for charity. LBS guy didn't have the first clue about E-Bay. Now he's got one of the more unique bikes out there - number 73 out of 100 made... And had titanium Record pedals & Specialized trispoke too.

He did go pick it up in person though, just to be careful.

All the guys in the club were drooling. The women were all more sceptical ('but what if the beam breaks?'). Very distinct gender gap in opinion.

How is that poorly written?

Nice find on the elites. I've got at least 10K miles on mine.

Question. Has there ever been a set of wheels for sale on ebay where they stated having more than 1000 miles on them?

Every piece of cycling equipment on Ebay is new, NOS, ridden only three times, was a take-off, or has less than 1,000 miles...

It is amazing how many people buy nice components and then never really use them.
