Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

how about a waterford custom steel? i hear they have a steel frame road bike that's 15 lbs fully equipped. that should be a comfortable ride as well as more than race worthy for most of us amateurs.

I think the R-33 is over 2k just for the frame, I looked at waterford when I was looking for a frame a couple months ago.

Yea the R-33 is a little to much for me right now. $2000 for a frame and about $350 for a fork.

If a Waterford is over your budget, you might want to consider a custom geometry Gunnar.

The OS2 (True Temper OX Platinum) Gunnar Roadie 56cm frame weighs ~3.6 pounds.

I was looking at the Gunnar's, they seem to be a great deal for a bike basically made by Waterford. $750 for standard geometry frame sizes, $1075 for custom geometries.

The Curtlo's are inexpensive, but I've read that the paint is quite fragile. The gunnar's might be a better bet in that sense.
