Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I like this one, too. Not tunes, but cycling related and good to pass the time. A couple of racers who don't take themselves or their podcast too seriously.

I'm just picturing some cyclist making jet noises and talking to his buddies about Migs while riding.

And where did Avril come from?

My recomendations for this week are

Linkin Park
White stripes (especially icky thump)
stone temple pilots (first two albums and only the harder stuff)
incubus
rage againts the machine

Dropkick Murphys
The Real Mckenzies
The Pogues
Black 47
Flogging Molly
The Tossers

Awesome. I'm listening to the Blue Album right now and I'm trying to imagine how that would go.

Personally, I find old school funk to be the ticket: Parliament, Kool & the Gang, James Brown.

Current go-to workout is The Black Keys: El Camino.

I hit college in the mid90s, so other playlists include selected songs from TOOL, Alice in Chains, Filter, The White Stripes, and A Perfect Circle. Very nice to have some other votes for TOOL on this list.

For something different and a little upbeat (indie pop), I go with Matt n' Kim: Grand (Daylight in particular).

I listen to a variety of any 2 hour trance mixes you can find anywhere on the interwebs. Don't have to worry about breaks in the music, or weird transitions from one genre to the next. Yeah, trance...too f@ggy??

My current favorite combo:

On the ipod: https://youtu.be/8zVmDpqMeMk
Rodrigo y Gabriela
3 full CD's all available on youtube
Great cadence work!

On the big screen: https://youtu.be/iPnjXEa_C1c
The New Mallocra Training
Quite a few of these, but this one seems the best organized so far.

I love working out while watching Jessica Alba kick ass on Dark Angel.

This. The most I can really stand on my trainer is about ~50 minutes. I watch Netflix or DVD's of hour long TV shows. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (don't laugh!), 24, Angel (again don't laugh),Heroes, Prison Break, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly etc. etc. The better the show and action, the quicker the workout. It's better when you have not seen the show of course. I do 15 minutes to warm up into a good sweat, do 5 minute hard intervals then 5 minutes rest (1 easier gear)alternating until done. It keeps me at my same summer weight and I retain most of my speed as well. I couldn't just listen to music on a trainer. I need something to look at.

I like listening to Grateful Dead and Jimmy Hendrix on the trainer.
But the guy who runs our trainer workouts always puts on music like Kenny Loggins or smooth jazz, which is way to mellow for me!

LCD Soundsystem, song: "Yeah - Crass Version" - 9 minutes long, ending in a delightful cacophony of electronic noise.

Then the entire album The Big Roar by The Joy Formidable.

Blink 182 - Greatest Hits.

And about a thousand more. But those are my go-tos.

Sweating to the Oldies is appropriate for indoor workouts.

Metallica (or any bad '80s music) is a great thing to play at home if you're having trouble finding the motivation to leave for an outdoor workout.
