Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Time shoe

Anyone have these? Decent shoe? At Nashbar for 49.99 Thinking of getting these
for my first clipless shoes. I am a 10 so I guess I would order a size 44?

As long as you're using an mtb/touring style pedal, that's a decent brand. They tend to run a little wider than Shimano, Sidi, etc. in my experience.

You'd have more pedal options if you went with a road shoe with a three-bolt pattern rather than SPD style MTB shoes like those.

Then again, that's a great price. So why not?

Do not buy your first shoes on the internet.

I bought some Times from Nashbar, and they're probably fine shoes, but they don't fit. And that is miserable.

I bought a set of time carbon soles road shoes, which were a great price but just didn't fit right. So i had to send those back and ride with shoes that weren't the right size for me either.
Try snagging something at an LBS sale. I got Nike Poggio's for a really sweet price. They were like half off as were the booties i bought with them. Yay!

Probably closer to a 43. Time shoes are OK, but they aren't made on the nicest last and they aren't the most durable. I've had two pairs of Time shoes in different models. At list, they're overpriced. On sale, they're about right.

In your price range I'd look at Diadora and Shimano offerings instead. Remember, shoes are always on sale. Buying from Nashbar isn't a bad deal because if they don't fit, you can send them back and try again. It's a hassle, but the price is right.

The last pair of Time shoes I owned, had a thick seam running right over the bone visible on the top of my foot (cuneiform).

Most painful pair of shoes I've ever owned.

YMMV more with shoes than with any other item besides maybe a saddle, I'd guess.

But I ordered the road version of the very shoes you're posting about, roughly 2.5 months ago. I'm a 10.5 shoe, I got the 44s, and they fit pretty well. No major problems. My first road shoes. Fairly happy with them.

I can imagine a better fit, construction, etc., pretty easily, but for the price (mine were about the same, maybe a bit more) I'm not complaining.
