Easton SLX Fork with carbon weave showing?
I have seen pictures of the SLX fork with the carbon12k weave showing.
But on the website it says that the color is a solid matte black (as in a coat of paint i guess)
whats the difference?
and why do the current models not have a nude 12k showing?

That's an older version of the fork. The current model is unidirectional carbon and I think all Easton carbon bits are like that now.

Look at the Reynolds UL. It's very expensive though. I considered swapping for the aesthetics but not at that price.

Keep in mind the EC90 SLX has gained weight. I hear the 2008 forks will weigh 334 gms or so, up from the advertised 299 gms of yore. On the one hand, there must be a reason Easton did this (oh oh), on the other, I think my 295 gm fork may be worth some bucks one day. 295 gms is the lightest I've heard of .

The 2007 Ouzo forks use weave is only a limited area and it's so dark you can hardly see it anyway, plus you guessed it: manufacture moved to China. The older versions made in the USA have the nicest weave; they are pretty cheap on Ebay except there are only integrated styles left.
Ritchey WCS forks use weave but QC is really spotty. Good luck getting a perfect fork. Plus they have reduced weight to 300 gms or so which makes no sense since Easton, which has more carbon expertise, went in the other direction. I guess they will learn the hard way . . . hopefully nobody gets hurt.
