My first road bike ride

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Welcome mimi123,
Welcome to this wonderful and addictive sport. Soon you won't want to get off the bike so soon, you'll be so hooked on the sport that you are going to feel miserable if you don't bike for one single day.

Nice ride!
Now get out there and ride. It's really easy to get caught up in the entire parts talk and constant upgrading quest, but if you're out there and riding and have the brain capacity to think about upgrading a part then you're not working hard enough!

I remember my first ride, same thoughts. I also remember when a friend ask if he can go along on a ride with his mountain bike. I just laughed while shaking my head and said no. He said "why you laughing". Because I'll make 2 turns and you will never see me again, that's why. Now he just bought a new carbon Motobecane full ultegra. I have to say they are pretty nice for the money(solid). Here comes the shill remarks.

Exactly! I find myself getting a little caught up (compartivately, I've seen much worse on these forums). I'm just going to ride a lot and not think about parts until it becomes painful to sit because of my saddle. You know, only necessary stuff.

Woo Hoo!

Ride safe.

My wife hated the pastel colours too. In the end she bought a LeMond Reno.

The first thing you are doing wrong is riding around on those pedals. Go clipless....it'll be like adding a supercharger!

Yeah, I'm going to order some clipless really soon. I got five more miles farther today than the day before yesterday! So that's 15 miles.

I'm having tons of funnn.

Funny, the color scheme on the one you have floats my boat much more than the red, white and blue version, and I'm about as far from girlie as you can get. Guess I appreciate subtle more than bold.

In any case, welcome to the club!
