Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What gets me is all the frames have gone up between $300-$400 from 2003-2004.

Unless there is a typo in the brochure mailed to me, $8500 is what is stated!

It is not the Look frames that went. I priced a new Fuji team frame $1700 for a production line frame, I don't thinks so. The Trek carbon frames start at $1700. That is why I buy old frames sets. I have shop near my house that buys over stock, and then resale it. He has brand new, never built, 3 year old frames in his shop. If you want a Look frame, he has 2 KG96 frame.

Don't blame Look for the exchange rates. One year ago today the rate was 1 USD to 1.02 Euros. Your US Dollar now buys .89 Euros so the prices go up.

Look for everything from Europe to cost more this coming season as MSRPs are adjusted to reflect the weak dollar.

Is Look discontinuing the 381i or did it balloon into that KG 481 SL?

Yup, it really sucks. Things are much closer with the Yen so any Shimano price increases should reflect new technology rather than bad exchange rates.

This just gives you a good reason to look at CF builders in the US. Try Calfee and Aegis for starters

In a global economy the consumer is at the mercy of the cost of currency. Look at the folks up in Canada, their dollar is worth about $.68, compared to the USD. They have to pay extra for everything that comes from the US.
Now it's happening here in th US. Our economy is bad, our dollars aren't worth much compared to the Euro, so us consumers will have to pay extra, if we want European goods.
It's just the way of business.

If they don't keep there prices competitive, there will be alot of extra bikes/frames sitting around at the end of 2004.

It's supply and demand!
