first 20 miler
i did my first 20 mile ride yesterday. i finished in 59:15. felt really good, and way better than running. i think i'll do a 30 mile ride next time, since the 20 didn't hurt, or feel too terribly bad at all.

If your butt hurts it's either a bad seat, bad body position, or you haven't ridden enough to get used to being on the bike. I went for a ride on Sunday because it warmed up enough to get out, and after not riding for 3 weeks, my butt wasn't comfortable at first. Meanwhile, I did my last century in September on the same saddle and had no problems. It's most likely a matter of just getting back into cycling shape.
As for the 20 miles in under an hour, that's great. Keep it up. 20 miles is a pretty "short" ride for most cyclists, but doing it in an hour means that you were moving pretty fast. Of course, average speed discussions are usually "apples to oranges" unless you're talking about the same course. On some of the hilly rides around here, you're lucky to average 16 mph if you're a strong rider, whereas on a flat ride, 20+ is no big deal.
