Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Do these things actually hold you up?

I just received a toupe from a fellow BFer (staticguy, shipped fast, well packed), and I can't believe how light and thin this thing is. I'm almost afraid to sit on it. Definitely a lot less material than my Avatar saddle.

Can't wait to try it out. It was my Christmas present to my butt.

I wouldn't worry about it. My Performance Pro SLX saddle is even thinner -- love them to death, I'm on my 3rd one. I weighed 200 lbs when I started using them, and even used one for mountain biking.

Haha, that's how I felt about my SLR before I actually tried it.
I liked it a lot more than an Arione which seemed to be more padded and flexier.

Depending on your previous saddle, there may be some "break-in" period for your sit bones - ie toughen 'em up. I've been on Ariones on my other bikes and picked up a Toupe last summer for my crit bike. My sit bones still are getting used to the saddle - but it sure looks sexy.
If you read thru some of the past Toupe posts, you'll see that some people love them from the first ride or just hate them (and resell it).

Definitely a hazard to your taint. I'll dispose of it and give you $50.
