Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Another Cannondale question for Roadwarrior

Hey RW,

Thinking about trading in the Six13 frame for a System Six, my LBS tells me it would cost about $1500 + $60 for a Dura Ace BB adapter for me to do this. I think that may be worth it. The Super Six frame trade in swap would be like $2250 or so. I think the System Six might suit me better. What do you think?

I do have a bit of a mental block about that big fat non-aero headtube, but I think that's all in my feeble mind.

Do you know the comparative frame weights of the Six13 (2007 frame) System Six and Super Six? I think the System Six might be 100 grams lighter, the Super Six 200 grams lighter..

I'd PM you, but I couldn't do it (system said you don't do PMs now).

So the System Six is probably the same weight as the CAAD9.
PCAD, I'm just curious, what don't you like about your Six13? What makes the System Six worth 2250 more?
Honestly, why don't you ride your Six13 for a while longer and by then maybe the price on the System Six will drop. I know this goes against the schwagoholic policy you have going for you, but it might just serve you better to HTFU and keep riding it.

Just my $.02

I'll probably ride the Six13 until at least 2009. But the schwag options are fun to ponder, aren't they?

I won't buy a new road bike on eBay for several reasons. That business goes to my LBS. I buy enough other crap on eBay. Piermont Bicycle will sell me my next main road bike for sure.

What's wrong with the SI crankset?

Adapters RULE. And that Cdale crankset is Fugly. The DA crankset is jewel-like.

Haha, I know what you're talking about pcad. I crashed my CAAD9 and I found out that the replacement CAAD9 frame would be 400 bucks and the Six13 frame would be 500. I was pretty tempted to lean towards the latter for a replacement, but I ended up not replacing anything as the frame was cleared for riding.
I'll replace it when the dings show signs of fatigue. Till then, I've a sweet bike!

Ps: I've unflipped my stem after getting a longer stem in order to attain pcad cycling zen by hopefully eliminating back pain. Fortunately, I can still run and have been doing so while waiting on the stem swap.

Grasshopper, a key element of Pcad Cycling Zen is back pain. Only self loathing is more important. My back started hurting in 1999. It has never stopped. I tried three rounds of physical therapy, facet block procedures, major spinal fusion (2001), prolotherapy, and three years on large doses of oxycontin along with five seasons of zero point zero miles cycling and it still hurt. After chucking all that and resuming road cycling in April 2005, I have accumulated 34K miles on the road bike. My back still hurts, but less, and I don't care because I'm on endorphins all the time.

By the way, that is the incredibly abbreviated Cliff's Notes version of Pcad's Back Medical Cluster****. The full version would swamp the BF server's bandwidth.

It will be in the low 50's tomorrow AM. I will be riding 50 miles, starting in the pre-dawn fog. I will be so stoned on endorphins when I get back to my desk that even the ******** drafting requests that cross my desk before noon or the tanking Nasdaq will not phase me.

Haha, I am a grasshopper. I'm 18. I shouldn't be having lower back pain on the bike, and especially not off the bike because of being on the bike.

So pcad cycling zen master, what is the verdict on the cdale?

Verdict? No verdict. Just thinking out loud on BF. And characterizing my threads as thinking is quite a stretch.
