Workstands...
I'm wanting to get a workstand and I was wanting some advice on buying a good one. I saw two basic styles.
One style I'm looking at is here,
https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...0Spin%20Doctor
The other Style is here.
https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...0Spin%20Doctor
I'd like to get the pro's and con's of each.
Thanks,
Ray

I'd go for the tripod, BB-cradling model. It appears to both be more stable and hold the bike more securely. Furthermore, it's what I see a lot of pro mechanics using (similar design).

this is what I got after reading alot of reviews....this is a super sturdy stand, well put together, and the clamp is great....I recommend it without hesitation.

One big advantage of the first linked stand is work height.
Between the two links, stands are one area where you will get what you pay for
I'd probably pass on the seond unless you want a travel stand, but even then I think I'd opt for something more along this style:
It'll fold up to a very small package.

I like my old school Park that clamps to the seatpost. The clamp design has served pro mechanics for decades. I can strip my bike on it, spin it and raise or lower it at any angle to suit my whim. Sturdy enough to pull cranksets that don't want be pulled.
Not what you've specified for options, however.
