Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

moot's stem/seat-posst

Anyone here used or have they ever used a ti stem/ moots or some other brand

Same on a ti seat-post.

I know their bikes are outstanding, Iam just wondering if anyone has the above mentioned products and what feed-back there is and if actually worth the money.

Is there a big difference in these products compared to aluminum/or carbon stem or seat-post

Thanks

The stem is $300 and 150g. Clearly we're talking about wants and likes, not needs or performance. The seat post is a bit more reasonable, but still twice a Masterpiece in cost.

Even so, wouldn't hesitate a moment to spec one with a new Moots frame.

The adjustment/ clamp design on the moots post is pretty terrible, I would suggest the Erikson post instead.

But either post has a little flex in it and you can really feel it on a hardtail mountain frame, the post is definatly more comfortable than any carbon or alu post.

I use the Layback. Beautiful design, although it takes a bit of work to spread the clamping mechanism (there are a couple 'tricks', it's not really hard) when changing saddles. The new cinch post isn't as good looking in my opinion (it gives up the round profile, see-thru clamping mechanism). And the open road stem is a pretty lil thing too. They aren't cheap, but they do look good.

I ride a Bold Ti seat post. I think it is a work of art and rides very well (previously have ridden Thomson {Al} and USE {carbon}. Bold can be seen here https://www.boldprecision.com/bicycle.htm. Additionally, Albert Bold seems to be a very good businessman. Any questions or problems are addressed immediately.

I have an Eriksen with the black details and no offset that matches my king headset.. its beautiful. Not sure if I can feel any difference between it and my carbon, my Thompson seems stiffer. My frame is Ti btw so im not sure if a Ti seatpost would soften an aluminum frame or not.

The Eriksen is pretty and designed pretty well. You have a single adjustment point and mine has never slipped in about 2500 miles maybe. Its pricey of course, I think I paid just over $200
