Bottle Cages: Good - Cheap - Light(ish)

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

If you're talking about the Stryke Kage, I haven't used those, but have read from people here that they don't hold the bottles well and they break easily.

As for weight, it is indeed a tiny difference isn't it? We're talking about saving maybe 40 grams total for 2 cages. Most of these people wear medallions in their races, too, most likely.

I used the Stryke Kage for a full season and did not experience any of these issues.

I bought a couple of Origin 8 Lock Jaw cages today at a LBS. I'd never seen them before and it was just an impulse purchase--don't know if they're any good or not yet. But they are light(35g) and cheap($6.99).

Damn, I wish I could get to the point where the weight of my bottle cage mattered for my improvement.

I bow to you man...

to the OP....I have the Profile Design plastic cages...they work well and are reasonably light ~50g...they hold the bottle well and are easy to use IMO....I also think they look good....oh, and I got mine for $5 each with free shipping when I ordered some stuff from Cadence Cycle.

I had the Profile Stryke's, but they cracked from the cold. Now I'm sportin' Bontrager Race Lites.

I used those cannondale gt40's. IMO, not the easiest to get the bottle in and out.

Should I get the one for 34 grams or the one for 37 grams? Of course it makes a huge difference.

So, not that big at all then. The State of Western Australia is about 5 times the size of Texas...

Back to Bottle cages. I have the alloy Elites from PBK. Not sure if they count as cheap for alloy but certainly do the job and look pretty good IMHO.
