Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Michelin Pro Race vs Pro Race 2 (vs Pro Race 3?)

Very minor question here.

I just ordered some Pro Race tires online because they were crazily cheap...And then I realized that they were actually the original Pro Races and not Pro Race 2's, which everyone seems so fond of...

...I was just curious if there was something really considerably different between the two types, and if I was being completely ripped off by purchasing a pair of first-gen Pro Races for $40?

Also, anyone know when the Pro Race 3's come out (I heard some chatter), and what improvements will be made?

Thanks!

they were cheap because they were yellow.

now use the search engine to find out what you want to find out (but don't expect an answer about the pro 3 race tires).

Ahh yes, I actually searched earlier to no avail, but this time I got exactly what I was looking for:

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=222160&highlight=race+2+pro if anyone's interested.

I was actually looking specifically for decent tires that also came in yellow, incidentally, so that worked out perfectly...I'm not usually very vain in that way, but if they're good tires I don't see why I shouldn't ge them in a good color too!

$40 for pro race 1st gen? total rip, which is less of a rip than what one of my LBSs has them for... $50 for 1 tyre.
you can get a pair of pro 2 race for $50~55 with shipping.

$40 for the pair! I don't think that's too terrible, is it?

In any case, where are you finding the 2's for $50-55? The lowest I can find is $32/tire. Sorry to beat a dead horse...I'm just relatively new at this, so I apologize.

PBK is no longer even listing the PR2's...they did have for $56/pair shipped before they ran out....didn't someone say that Mich. is going to discontinue the PR2's for thePR3's?

chances are they're no longer selling them.

the OP and I seem to have bought a spare set of pro races that were in their inventory.

The difference is simply in the numbers. Pro Race's are good. The Pro 2 Race is twice as good, and the Pro 3 Race is three times as good. Now that's logic!!! I'm holding out purchasing until they release the Pro 100 Race.

If you're not joking, i'd like to see some proof or at the very least some reasoning on how you came to this conclusion.
