Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Interesting Y-Foil on ebay...

https://cgi.ebay.com/TREK-Y-FOIL-BUIL...QQcmdZViewItem

"Over-the-top" is a good phase to describe it.... Wireless Mavic RD... hah! Who needs one of those? Oops, had to call the wife since the batteries died..... Totally fredish... And this is coming from a die hard Y-Foil fan and owner... Then again, that would look ridiculous on any bike....

Enjoy your Val. Day... Did you get anything for your bike?

I love the look of those bikes, but the seller has truly gone overboard when it comes to form over function! Brake calipers AND shifting that are regarded by many as being truly craptacular!

I am loving the retro gold flake. All it needs is a mirror ball!

If that was my size I would be tempted.

I would take the brakes off and put them on my old steely

Ugh - Ultegra FD and crank with CAMPY brakes?

I saw a guy riding one of those at the Palm SPrings ride last week.

It's the Cinelli Alter stem. Optional covers for the 'opened' area can be found - Cinelli made a series of 'pinup' girls for the stem. You can choose between a Blonde, Redhead, and a Brunette (no, this is serious).

It's a damn good stem, by the way! Heavy, yes - but the stiffest stem I've ever used. It's now on my fixed conversion.

Confirmed. I'm not posting the NSFW link but if you search for Cipollini and start wandering through links you'll see it.

Wow, that bike is crazy interesting all around. And mint! That Mavic RD does look ridiculous though. That bike belongs in a museum.

My favourite quote:
"One thing, I do not have a scale of any kind so I cannot weigh the bike"

Translation: "This bike is f***ing heavy"

Correct - I forgot about the integrated handlebars variation!
The Intergralter also takes the Pin-Up covers.

That's a pretty spendy garage door he's got there. When a spring breaks on that thing in 15 years, he's going to need a crane to lift it.

I want a Y-foil to build into a commuter . Did they ever make them in sizes other than 56 (all I see on eBay)?

Lame... Wondering if I could make that work. I'm wanting to build a cool looking commuter, with some older Campy on it (8 or 9 speed).

OK, they definitely made them in a 51 and 54, so hooray.

Anyone seen them anywhere but eBay?

they also made them in 59 and 62, but those are VERY rare due to the beam cracking. Mine did and trek sent me a new one for free. I am a bit on the heavy side now so I ride my 520.
