New 105 Looking Downmarket
Cheap looking chainset, bargain basement branding. A real disservice to a reliable, honest groupset.

If they have eliminated gray/silver, I am really glad I got mine already.
I don't like black components.
EDIT: Never mind, I read that they are retaining the silver...

The linked article says both the old and new finish will be available. You have a choice. Me, I like the silver.

Might look cool on a totally black bike, but yeah, it does look a little cheap.
As long as it works the same, though, I guess it doesn't bother me much.

Yeah, 9-speed 105 came in black (as an option) for a few of those last years before 10-speed.
(edit: looks like Rad beat me to that one...)

It'll look good on a black or a white bike. Maybe black & white like below.
Maybe a Silver bike as long as the brakes seatpost and bars are also black.

It would look better in an anodized black color instead of the slate. It looks like someone did a cheap spray can paint job on it. But I guess if they anodized it the finish would look too close to the SL's ice grey.
At least they give you an option between the silver and the black. teh real test will be once it's ona bike and we cna test it out. If it's real smooth like the Ultegra than I think people will change their minds, especially at PBK prices!

Looks a wee bit shinier than the finish of the current Campagnolo Mirage groupset. Reckon silver is still the way to go, but it seems the market prefers to rub it's cranks silver with its shoes...

*shrug* whatever as long as it still functions well, I'll likely be buying an ultegra SL group next anyway
