Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

like that sound where you roll your tongue?

Ok, so i just bought a used performance fluid + trainer (the one with adjustable resisance) used from craiglist. When I set it up to ride it makes a weird sound like the one where your roll your tongue and hum (i really cant think of a way to write this noise, just try it any you will understand), Kinda like a car with piston knock.

Is this a normal noise? has anyone else heard this?

This is my first trainer so I dont have a basis for comparison, so before I go and take it all apart, please tell me it is normal and all is right with the world.

it rides fine and i like it, it just seems to be a bit loud?

ps the noise seems to get more pronounced when the trainer is pressed against the tire more.

most trainers make noise

I know what you mean by rolling your tongue and humming.

Mine is more of a whinier, higher pitched, whirling noise though.

call Performance and ask them if it's normal.....my Cyclops made a ticking noise one night shortly after I got it....but I haven't heard it since.
