Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Removing my spacers

Hi, I searched, but nothing came up that really answered my question. My question is, I have an 06 Tarmac it has 2 5mm spacers, and a 20mm cone. I want to know if I can remove the cone and run a 5mm spacer instead, or does that 20mm cone have to be there for the headset? Thanks

it all depends on what the actual h.s. is. a cane creek for example generally ships with the cone spacer but a flat cap is also available for those that want to use less spacers.

Just a simple question: are you thinking on cutting down the steerer tube?

If I feel comfortable with the more aggressive stance, then yes I will have it cut.
