I was half expecting to see that they were riding 1980s bikes with downtube shifters. But those bikes are just fine - just less "bling", not as though they're riding junk.

OMG winning races with a bike that Lance road *6 years ago*... Do our wheels even fit on that frame? Didn't they ride on squares back then?

The most remarkable thing was the guy who won the race was on a GMC Denali with Sora. When asked how he felt about the whole experience he said he felt good competing on a bike made from recycled pop cans.

So, when they say that one dude was riding Lance Armstrong's bike, do they mean that he's riding the actual same bike, or is it just one of the same model?

Woohoo! I have a 9speed DA group on a 2000 Trek 5200. I know there's nothing about that bike that's holding me back.

It's a fairly decent idea, if you wanted to have every single possible gear range on your bike at one time. The 54 tooth chain with an 11-27 cassette would be something to marvel.
Not that here in Texas I even use the small chain ring on my double, but thats another issue all together.

That chainring looks like it weighs a pound or so. Why so beefy ??

I do road races on a steel bike with Tiagra shifters and old RX100 cranks and brakes. (the rest is 105)
I even time trialed that bike back when it had downtube shifters!
There are guys on my University team who race with Sora.
It's a time trialing ring - it's theoretically more aerodynamic.

The actual bike. I know a local rider who was on the Trek TdF team in 2000 or 2001 who had one, it was his training bike. I'm not sure if it was given to him by Lance or by Trek, but now it's on the wall of a shop.
