Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hi. What would be required to convert an Ultegra SL clamp-on derailleur to use it on a bike with a braze base?

Edit: Nevermind. I gave you the wrong adapter.

I did a quick search and this is all I could come up with:

Maybe nothing. I've got a couple of Ultegra front derailleurs. I seem to remember that one has a bolt to attach it to a separate clamp band and the other has the clamp band integral to the derailleur.

If yours is the former, it'll bolt right up to a braze-on fitting. (Why do we still call them braze-on's? Unless you have an old school steel frame they're either welded or bonded - not brazed.)

I have FDs with both "integrated" band and a braze-on with band adapter...

If it is "integrated" I think you need a hack saw or a new FD...

Sorry...

Edit...Have I got the progression right...I am a little confused...Too many Easter eggs you know...

Yes, it's simple. Saw off the brazed-on bracket. Next, braze the FD on to a clamp ring. Then, braze the clamp on to the seat post.
