Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pumped

The time is almost here, finally i will own a road bike. Saturday i will be test riding a specialized allez double, and a Jamis Ventura Comp. I will also be on the lookout of higher model bikes on sale (like maybe a Ventura Elite, or Specialized Elite). Going to buy all my gear too, helmet, pedals, shoes, riding shorts..etc.

i have an '06 ventura elite. it was a great bike until i wrecked it on sunday... i still need to have it evaluated for major crash damage. the deraileur hanger is bent, which slightly bent one of my rear dropouts...the bike is scratched to hell, but the carbon parts seem pretty much ok. still better safe then sorry. I also shattered my collarbone. not a good way to spend easter

don't forget shattered relationships, emotional isolation, financial distress and - in some cases - leg shaving.

Shaving can lead to you wife/girlfriend/lover/mistress liking the look and you will proceed to higher heights and hard to reach places... Just do not shave you armpits. You are not in a triathlon or a drag show.

alternatively it can lead to an awkward conversation that starts with "well hon, there was this really great idea I got from the internet, everyone said I should do it"
