Travel Case/bag for flying with bike
I'm going to be doing an unpaid internship with an HIV/AIDS NGO in Zambia this summer and I really wanted to take one of my bikes with me.
I was wondering what people recommended. I know there have been posts on this before, but I wanted to see how things had lasted since people last used them since the threads a little old.
The bikebag.de soft case looks pretty neat and well built, how is that? Would a hard case be better than that?
Thanks for the help choosing!

Three days is "a little old" for a thread?

The title of that thread is 'creative ways to ship a bike'. I'm not shipping so I didn't look.
Plus, I'm asking about a specific product.

Firstly well done on your efforts.
If I was you I would be taking a hybrid/ mountain bike. Even Lusaka is not very well paved outside of the commercial center.
If there is a lot of road traveling then a soft bag will be easier to fit into road transport.
I have no experience of the bag you are looking at but the price seems good. The bag does seem bulky compared to soft bags from sricon.
Also think about how you are flying there, the more flights you change the more punishment the bike case will take.
Good luck, safe travel and ride safe.

I would strongly advise AGAINST the bikebag.de. I bought them to take our bikes to France in '06. The bikes survived, but the cases were pretty much trashed by the time we got back. The design is OK but the internal framing is flimsy. You can carry a lot of gear in them but that's because they are about the size of a piano when loaded.
I now own a hard case.

I guess this means I'll just use a cardboard box that the bikes usually come in.
Thanks for letting me know about this.

Get one from your LBS that the higher end bikes come in. My LBS hooked me up and they lent me a Madone bok. It had padding and straps to tie the bike down. worked like a charm ...

+1 on the Madone box ... if you go to the link I posted in Post #2 above, and scroll through that thread a bit, I've posted photos there of my bicycle packed in a Madone box.
